TOP 10 FASTEST PLAYERS OF THE MODERN ERA

1. Brett Dallas (Canterbury Bulldogs & North Sydney Bears)
Fiery redhead who was the target of chip and chase attacks whilst playing for the North Sydney Bears, Queensland and Australia.

2. Darren Albert (Newcastle Knights & Cronulla Sharks)
Famous not only for his last second try in the grand final in 1997 but for chase and try saving tackle that got the Knights into that game on Bears Matt Seers, who himself is no slouch.

3. Brett Stewart (Manly Sea Eagles)
Often touted as the fastest player in the today's game. With similar kick chase abilities of Billy Slater and shows an excellent turn and chase when opposing teams turn defence into attack.

4. Billy Slater (Melbourne Storm)
Like Stewart he scores a lot of tries for his side from kick chase and backing up. Currently leads the league in line breaks by a country mile, Slater's acceleration and ability to be everywhere in defence for his side makes his one of the quickest players in the NRL currently.

5. Preston Campbell (Gold Coast Titans, Cronulla Sharks & Penrith Panthers)
Prestons acceleration is amazing but since his move from five-eight to fullback he hasn't been able to show as much of it. In a game in 2005 he made Matthew Bowen look like a tired front rower after an intercepted pass and burnt away from the Townsville flyer.

6. Greg Inglis (Melbourne Storm)
Blessed with freakish abilities, an impressive palm and lighting acceleration Inglis doesn't always get to show his pace in club football, but the space he received in the second origin game in 2008 showed just how quick he is over 100 metres when he left Mark Gasnier and Steve Turner for dead on several occasions.

7. Nathan Blacklock (St George-Illawarra Dragons)
Prolific try scorer for several season with the St George Illawarra Dragons in the late '90s. His turn of pace and kick chase earn't him over 20 tries in consecutive seasons.

8. Scott Donald (Manly Sea Eagles)
The blond haired former Eagles winger made opposition players look slow on numerous occasions from 00 – 00 before transferring overseas to play.

9. Rhys Wesser (Penrith Panthers)
Lost a lot of pace in the last year or two because of injury but Wesser was rumoured to be able to run a 4 second 40m dash in his prime. An activity that budding NFL rookies complete, 4 seconds is a freakish time for anyone.

10. Joven Clarke (South Sydney Rabbitohs)
Ex-sprinter turned rugby league player. Has been timed running the 100m at just over 10 seconds. Fast enough to make the Olympics.
