Coffs Harbour Celebrates the Centenary

Tuesday, May 27

Local Rugby heroes Ian Schubert, Bob Bugden and David Brooks will join Immortals Reg Gasnier, Graeme Langlands, John Raper and NRL CEO Mr. David Gallop in Coffs Harbour on Wednesday, May 28th as the North Coast celebrates 100 Years of Rugby League with the Harvey Norman Regional Celebration.

Coffs Harbour is one of five towns in NSW selected to host this prestigious event, which will kick off with a visit to the Rugby League memorabilia exhibition at Harvey Norman from 11am and conclude with a free major celebration at BCU International Stadium from 45pm.

“It has been fantastic getting out to the bush to celebrate 100 years of Rugby League and with so many great players from the North Coast I’m really looking forward to the Coffs Harbour event” Rugby League Immortal John Raper said.

“The most pleasing aspect of the Regional events so far has been the number of kids and families which have attended each celebration.  It proves once and for all the future of the game is in good hands”.

The evening event will feature a tribute to legends from the NSW North Coast and will culminate with a Group 2 match between Coffs Comets and Bellingen.

Fans of all ages are encouraged to attend the celebration with the giant 4.2m Telstra Premiership trophy, jumping castles and pass the footy clinics available from 4pm.

The legends will be signing autographs throughout the evening while the Centenary of Rugby League merchandise van will be on site for fans to purchase their piece of Rugby League history.
